History
The story goes that reggae was born in Jamaica, in the year 1962 when the island gained its independence from the UK. This is when the rock began to go through immigration and tuned radio stations from the United States.
The band Toots & The Maytals released in the late 60's a disc titled "Do the Reggae ', which is for many, this style of music originating in Jamaica itself.
The reggae was characterized by rhythmic melodies with regular cuts styles that were carried out on a rhythm section (Beat), and drums playing in the third beat of each measure. While you could see the influence of predecessors like ska rhythms and rocksteady, reggae was essentially a slow melody.
